Dr. Jalpa Doshi Wins Funding From the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Jalpa Doshi, PhD, Director of Value Based Insurance Design Initiatives at CHIBE, recently won funding from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Equity in Access Research Program, which seeks to remove barriers to care for patients with blood cancer.
In total, the Society awarded 5 groups of investigators $3.8 million to conduct research that will help “patients with and survivors of a blood cancer achieve access to the cancer care and services they need throughout their lives, particularly for groups which data have shown experience more barriers than others in obtaining the right diagnosis and treatments,” the Society wrote in its press release.
Dr. Doshi’s awarded project will assess if access barriers to oral anticancer medications are worse among vulnerable populations such as racial/ethnic minority patients. Ideally, the study will help find strategies to improve access to these medications that can be enacted at the state and federal level.
