The Free Press: Study: Lacking workout motivation? Add an incentive

“The researchers tracked 105 ischemic heart disease — the leading cause of death in the U.S. — patients for 24 weeks. One group was given a step counter and nothing else while the other received a step counter, personalized step goals, daily feedback and $14 each week.
