Dear CHIBE affiliates,

I am writing at the end of the summer to share with you some updates on our activities over the summer as well as some reminders about resources available to you.

Here are a few recent highlights:

A CHIBE delegation (Drs. Harsha Thirumurthy, Alison Buttenheim, Shivan Mehta, and myself) traveled to Singapore for a visit hosted by National University of Singapore’s (NUS) former Dean and Health System CEO John Wong to explore a collaboration on a population health initiative. NUS is the #1 ranked medical school in Asia. There were many highlights to the trip including a Lego Serious Play workshop led by Dr. Buttenheim, lots of interesting discussions, and amazing food and orchids.

I was invited to give a keynote at the CMS Quality Conference this July in Baltimore. My talk was titled “Preventive power: Using nudges and incentives to improve better health.”

Our data management team has unveiled a comprehensive set of guidelines and practical tools to support researchers in conducting high-quality, trustworthy research. Check out all their newly available resources under the Best Data Practices tab on our Research Support page. (Please note some of these are available to Penn research teams only.)

We’ve also added new information on our Research Support page about CHIBE’s design thinking and human-centered design services.

We have a fantastic lineup of speakers for our CHIBE virtual seminar series, which convenes leading scholars and experts to examine the intersection of human behavior, economic principles, and health outcomes.
