Penn Injury Science Center: Kit Delgado Appointed to NASEM Committee on Opioid Prescribing

Established in December 2018, the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) “Committee on Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Acute Pain” aims to identify, evaluate, and develop better frameworks for opioid-prescribing guidelines. The committee is comprised of experts in acute pain management, clinical practice guideline development, and dentistry/oral surgery, amongst others, but now also includes PISC Senior Scholar Kit Delgado for his expertise in emergency medicine. After considering the standards established in the 2011 IOM report, Clinical Practice Guidelines We Can Trust, the committee aims to issuing a report in late 2019 or early 2020. Read more at PISC
