Biography

Srinath (Sri) Adusumalli, MD, MSHP, MBMI, is Vice President and Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) at Penn Medicine, effective Jan. 6, 2025.

Dr. Adusumalli previously served as Senior Medical Director of Health Informatics at CVS Health. He received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He then completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Penn and earned a Master of Science in Health Policy Research with a concentration in health care quality and safety, as well as a Master of Biomedical Informatics from Penn.

Dr. Adusumalli then joined the Penn faculty within the division of Cardiovascular Medicine as an outpatient, inpatient, and imaging cardiologist focused on health informatics initiatives. His work included implementing ambulatory telemedical care during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing custom applications like Switchboard and Carelign, developing a research portfolio at the intersection of behavioral science and clinical decision support, and mentoring trainees as well as directing courses on learning health systems, applied health informatics, and digital transformation.

As a part of this work, Dr. Adusumalli held multiple leadership positions, including Assistant CMIO for Connected Health, Deputy Director of the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, and founding Director of the Penn Center for Cardiovascular Informatics.

During his most recent role at CVS Health, he has been responsible for enterprise projects such as Epic implementation and governance, clinical AI strategy development, national virtual care implementation, and clinical aspects of CVS’s digital consumer/patient experience.
