Dr. Venkataramani Promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure

Congratulations to Atheendar Venkataramani, MD, PhD, MPhil, who has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure, effective this year.

“Since joining the Penn faculty in 2017, Dr. Venkataramani has become a nationally recognized expert whose research illuminates the powerful ways that economic opportunity is linked to health. His wide-ranging research has also examined the impact of social and economic policies on multiple dimensions of health, the long-term consequences of early-life investments in health, and the potential for structural interventions and policy reforms to advance health and health equity,” said Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy’s Chair Steven Joffe, MD, MPH, and Health Policy Interim Division Chief and CHIBE Associate Director Harsha Thirumurthy, PhD.

“Dr. Venkatamani’s research has been recognized by numerous prizes, including from AcademyHealth, the Society of General Internal Medicine, and the American Journal of Public Health. His research also been widely cited in the media and by national organizations. It has also contributed to several policy reforms,” they added.
