Ryan Raimi, PhD, is a visiting scholar at the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems with a secondary appointment in the Healthcare Management Area at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He received his PhD in Information Systems from Virginia Tech. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned an MBA and an MSc in Business Analytics from the W. P. Carey School of Business. His research interests include conversational artificial intelligence (CAI), large language models (LLMs), chatbots, cognitive biases, and behavioral nudges. Using both quantitative (e.g., machine learning, econometrics, and psychometrics) and qualitative research methods, he studies these topics and phenomena almost exclusively in the digital (mental) health context with health disparities serving as an overarching theme in most of his projects. His work has appeared in outlets such as MIS Quarterly, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA), and the proceedings of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).
