Biography
Mitchell Blutt, MD, is the first physician known to have launched a successful career as a professional health care investor. For more than two decades, Dr. Mitchell Blutt has applied his medical knowledge to select and manage diverse health care investments. In 2005, Dr. Blutt transitioned from a position as Executive Partner at JP Morgan Partners to start his own health care investment firm, Consonance Capital. Dr. Mitchell Blutt leverages nearly 18 years of experience in managing health care ventures at JP Morgan to oversee Consonance Capital’s private and public equity investment divisions. He has vetted high-performing investment vehicles, such as long- and short-term public equity hedge funds, private growth equity, leveraged buyouts, and recapitalizations. In addition to his activities in the financial sphere, Dr. Mitchell Blutt is board certified in internal medicine. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he formerly served on its Board of Trustees for over 10 years. Dr. Blutt completed his residency at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, where he currently serves on its Dean’s Council. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees of Penn Medicine and the University’s Health System, Dr. Blutt also served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. He continues to serve on the Board of Overseers for the School of Arts and Sciences. He has also formerly served on the boards of ASC Network, Cardinal Health, Cooper Holding, DJO, Fisher Scientific, General Medical, Hanger Orthopedic Group, Medical Arts Press, and other companies and organizations. Additionally, he is a former board member of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
