Biography

Kelley Anderson, PhD, RN, FNP, is an Associate Professor at the University of Virginia, School of Nursing, with extensive expertise as a nurse-scientist with a focus on individuals with cardiovascular conditions.

Dr. Anderson is a nationally recognized heart failure nurse with more than 20 years of experience providing clinical care for individuals with cardiovascular conditions. Her research has centered on cardiovascular health, with a focus on improving quality of life. She is a Principal Investigator on an NIH study entitled the Impact of social determinants of health on post-hospitalization outcomes and goal-concordant care in patients with advanced heart failure, leading a multidisciplinary team recruiting patients hospitalized with heart failure and investigating the social determinants of health that impact readmission and quality of life.

Dr. Anderson is the PI on a Humana Foundation Grant entitled Community collaborations to promote quality of life, mental health, and nutrition for rural seniors with cardiovascular disease. This study evaluates a comprehensive nutrition program that includes a food pharmacy, nutrition counseling, and peer group sessions for rural older adults with hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
