Biography
Jonathan Xu is an undergraduate student at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he is studying statistics and pursuing a concurrent master’s degree in computer science. His academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare, with a particular focus on precision medicine and the ways data-driven approaches can improve patient outcomes.
Beyond health care, Jonathan is passionate about advancing the development of AI systems that are more agentic, multimodal, and capable of adapting flexibly to complex real-world environments. His current research reflects these dual interests: under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Volpp, Jonathan is completing his senior thesis on designing AI agents to support the formation of healthier eating habits, integrating insights from behavioral science, machine learning, and human-computer interaction.
Through this work, Jonathan hopes to contribute to the broader mission of building AI systems that are not only technically powerful but also socially beneficial, with meaningful applications in public health, clinical decision-making, and everyday well-being.
