Biography

Eric Bressman, MD, MSHP, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

His research centers around the integration of digital technology and AI into clinical care delivery, with a particular focus on transitions of care. This includes developing and testing automated tools to engage patients after hospital discharge and leveraging remote monitoring and machine learning to enhance in-home support.

He is also interested, more broadly, in the regulatory framework around AI and virtual care, including issues such as interstate delivery of care and payment for digital interactions.

Dr. Bressman received his MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he went on to complete his internal medicine residency and chief residency. He completed the National Clinician Scholars Program and received his Master of Science in Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

His work has been featured in JAMA Health Forum, JAMA Network Open, and the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and his lay writing has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and NEJM Journal Watch.
