Physician Competency in the Use of Choice Architecture
Physicians’ lack of expertise in the effects of choice architecture may lead to use of suboptimal choice environments for patients or surrogate decision makers. The overall objective of this project is to obtain preliminary data revealing whether physicians demonstrate skill in the use of choice architecture. The study will help to determine the extent to which physicians predict the influence of choice frames presented to patients or surrogates making health care decisions, particularly older adults who are highly likely to confront preference-sensitive health decisions.
