Changing Behavior in Hospitalized Seniors with Healthy Mobility to Reduce Harms of Hospitalization

The overall objective of this project is to conduct a quasi-experimental trial with lead-in and washout periods to study mobility for hospitalized seniors at Penn Medicine using an existing mobility protocol. The specific aims are (1) Use sensors to precisely describe actual hospital mobility in patients with an assigned a mobility level (2) characterize association of hospital mobility protocol on clinical harms of hospitalization in older adults, and (3) characterize patient/system-level barriers and facilitators to adherence to mobility recommendations.
