Dr. Thirumurthy elected fellow of Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research
CHIBE Associate Director Dr. Harsha Thirumurthy has been elected a Fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research.
“Harsha has made remarkable contributions to the field of behavioral health, with a focus on health and health behavior in low- and middle-income countries, over the course of his career,” said Medical Ethics and Health Policy Department Chair Dr. Steven Joffe. “His research on HIV self-testing, on economic incentives for voluntary male medical circumcision, and on U = U messaging have markedly expanded the evidence base for behavioral interventions to reduce HIV transmission and to improve uptake of HIV care. In addition, he co-founded Indlela, the first nudge unit in sub-Saharan Africa and a marker of his commitment to building local capacity to lead first-rate science.”
