CHIBE is proud to announce that Dr. Amol Navathe is the new Chair of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).
Dr. Navathe, a CHIBE-affiliated faculty member, is a prominent internal medicine physician and leading national scholar on health care financing and behavioral economics. He will serve as Chair until April 2029.
Previously, Dr. Navathe served as a MedPAC commissioner from 2019 to 2022 and as Vice Chair from 2022 to 2025.
“I am honored to step into this role and lead MedPAC’s work in support of Congress, the Medicare program, and its beneficiaries,” said Dr. Navathe in a press release.
MedPAC advises Congress on issues affecting the Medicare program. “In addition to advising the Congress on payments to private health plans participating in Medicare and providers in Medicare’s traditional fee-for-service program, MedPAC provides information on access to care, quality of care, and other issues affecting Medicare,” the MedPAC website states.
