One of the most common policy responses worldwide to the rise in diet-related chronic disease is to impose taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs). This presentation summarizes the results of a long-term research agenda estimating the effects of taxes on SSBs in the U.S. The impacts of these taxes on prices, purchases/sales, consumption, and health will be discussed.
