Eliza Kinsey, PhD, MPH | HP X CHIBE Hybrid Research Seminar

January 26 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

“The Role of Neighborhood Characteristics in Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes” with Eliza Kinsey, PhD, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, University of Pennsylvania

Abstract: The neighborhood in which a person lives can have dramatic impacts on their health and wellbeing. However, limited research has been done exploring how neighborhood characteristics affect perinatal health for both the pregnant individual and the infant. This talk will cover geospatial methods for neighborhood analysis in health research and present findings using New York City Vital Statistics birth records data to evaluate the associations between neighborhood characteristics (food environment, walkability and poverty rate) and weight-related pregnancy and birth outcomes.
