Congratulations to Emily Largent, JD, PhD, RN, the Emanuel & Robert Hart Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy and CHIBE-affiliated faculty member, on her election to Perelman School of Medicine’s (PSOM) Medical Faculty Senate Steering Committee.

This committee provides input on policies, procedures, curriculum, and faculty well-being at PSOM, according to Senate Chair Frances K. Barg, PhD, MEd. Medical school faculty meet monthly and serve as liaisons between the committee and their departments, centers, or institutes. This year, the committee will pay particular attention to culture at PSOM and the wider community and will discuss issues such as diversity, inclusion, equity, civility, hiring, retention, and professionalism, according to the committee website.

“The work for this year is focused on community engagement and examining our role in the West Philadelphia community,” Dr. Largent said. “The [Medical Ethics & Health Policy] department’s anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI) committee has also been focused on these important issues, and I am excited both to share our departmental perspective with the steering committee and also to learn new things from our medical school colleagues to bring back to the department.”
