Penn researchers launch Penn Medicine GRAIN study
Location
The University of Pennsylvania (all study procedures may be completed remotely)
Goal
The purpose of the Penn Medicine GRAIN Study is to learn more about people’s online grocery shopping habits using an online grocery delivery platform.
Description
The Penn Medicine GRAIN study has partnered with the American Heart Association for an online shopping study. Eligible participants are invited via text message or can apply to be in the study here.
As part of enrollment, participants will complete a brief call with study staff to review the study and confirm participation. During this process, participants will create a study-provided Walmart+ account (if needed) and share their login information with the study team. This information will be stored securely using Penn-approved software (Dashlane). Once enrolled, participants will complete a brief survey and be randomly assigned to one of three groups. To help ensure natural shopping behavior, full details about group assignment will be shared after the study is completed.
Participants will shop weekly for 18 weeks using the study’s online grocery store, “Lola’s.” The study team will have orders delivered through participant’s Walmart+ account. All participants will receive weekly text message reminders to place their grocery orders and will complete a follow-up survey at the end of the study.
Compensation
Participants may be eligible to earn $200+ for completing study activities.
