Preferences for predictive information about future health states among patients with life-limiting illness

The proposed project will use a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to study preferences for characteristics of predictive models among patients with life-limiting illnesses. This pilot has two specific aims, (1) identify relevant time horizons and health states for predictive models among community-dwelling patients with life-limiting illness to support advance care planning (ACP) discussions; and (2) characterize patient preferences for tradeoffs between costs of false positive and false negative errors when using predictive models to support ACP discussions.
